then it has the amount of time since startup and any time leftover from your last session, this gives you a total useage of this battery charge.
The CPU speed is the value returned when the question of speed is asked of the operating system, on my PB140 it does not show anything else but 16 MHz.
The Battery Voltage is followed by a guess at how much time is left in this battery charge. If it's guess is going to be to wild then a message will tell you this. Some occations when it will not make guesses are when you have just unplugged a charger and if the variation in voltage is to great. So it will wait until your useage steadies.
Battery Time Remaining.
I wrote 4 different routines to work out time remaining, or was it 5 ?, some were combined with others and after days of testing I can state that "Based on battery voltage and some of the data associated with the useage of the computer, that predicting the remaining battery time to within 5 minutes, at anytime during the time that a computer is in use, is this far away> <from impossible" What I ended up using was a figure based loosly on the amount of recent voltage drop, over time, and a course average time remaining based on some values collected when I was graphing the Voltage discharge of my PB140. This means that it can be wildly inaccurate at first but settles down to be fairly accurate within 30 minutes of the 'end'. This should also apply to nonstandard batteries as well as standard batteries.
Other messages will appear in place of the Time Remaining Guess. These will show when any of the following occur, the battery voltage increases due to changes in use, the charger is plugged in, strange values in battery voltage or when the battery has past the First Warning stage.
Another feature of these versions of Charge Time is the ability to save the battery voltage and Time as a TEXT file. This file can be used in spreadsheets to graph voltage and time, to test battery performance. The sampling is once per minute and each line is just, the Time, a TAB, Voltage, and a return.
